Hershell Dewayne "Wayne" Seals, 63, died May 3, 2009 of a heart attack at Desert View Hospital. He was formerly from Grants Pass.
He was born Nov. 4, 1945 in DeQueen, Ark. He was formerly employed with Arizona Pipeline, self-employed with California Custom, Daytec and most recently with Complete Trucking.
He was a man of simple pleasures. He liked nothing more than to "fill
up the gas tank" and go for a weekend drive with his wife, Kathy,
brother-in-law, Robbie, and his little 91-year-old mother, Verdie, in
tow. Though he was an uncomplicated man, he liked to work on
complicated things like cars and tractors. He was the family’s mechanic.
Seals spent most of his life in the High Desert, but his heart was in
the tall timber of Oregon, where his son, James and daughter, Jennifer,
live with their families. And although his plans to move back there
were cut short, one can only imagine what a wonderful time he would
have had with them. He will be missed.
He is survived by his
wife, Katherine; mother, Verdie Seals and brother Tommy Seals, all of
Victorville, Calif.; sister, Connie Mayfield of Goldsboro, N.C.;
daughter, Jennifer (Dan) Cleveland; son, James (Sarah) Seals, all of
Eagle Point; step-son, Tommy McKenzie of Hesperia; step-daughters, Mary
Szoyka, of Medford and Sandy (Dan) McGraw, Filmore, Calif.; three
grandchildren and 12 step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Doyle Seals, his older brother, Joe Seals and his former wife, Janice Fenning.
The service for Mr. Seals was held in Victorville, Calif., May 8 with burial st Desert View Memorial Park.
