Caroline B. Adkins, 87, of White City, died June 30, 2009 at her residence.
Caroline (Borske) Adkins was the middle child of eight children born to Susan and Peter Borske. She grew up in upper Michigan. She moved to the Chicago area in the early 1840s where she met Edward Adkins. They married in 1941. After the birth of their daughter in 1951, the family moved to Crystal Lake, Ill.
They became members of the LDS church in 1972. Mrs. Adkins retired shortly thereafter. She and her husband traveled full time and then lived in Sun City, Arizona before moving to Oregon in 1997 to be closer to their oldest granddaughter.
As an Oregon resident, she helped raise emus, made quilts, served at the ACCESS White City Pantry, served the Northwest Seasonal Workers and various church related functions. She was loved by all her knew her and many called her mom and grandma.
She is survived by her husband, Edward, daughter Sherry (Munday) of White City, two granddaughters, two great grandchildren, a brother Clarence (Opal) Borske, Great Falls, Mont., and a sister, Lillie Fritz, Chester, Mont.
The memorial service for Mrs. Adkins was held July 12 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Eagle Point. Arrangements by Abbey Funeral.
