Prospect needs county permits for workshop

The Prospect Board of Directors approved hiring Shelli Lass and Candice Bennet as high school volleyball coaches.

The board continues to attempt to get the workshop building constructed. They learned the price of the county permit will be $11,600 and are waiting for approval by the county of the plans. The workshop building is a metal structure. The district hopes to have it done and ready for the start of school.

The board had concerns about two issues and asked the administration to address them and bring them back for board approval. One of the issues of concern was eligibility wherein there was concern with testing retakes at the discretion of a teacher. The other concern was lack of information on new student eligibility.

Board approval was given to the second reading of the bidding process, children and the internet use and credit by proficiency, which could involve online classes, challenging classes or with experiences verified within the student portfolio.

Charter board members were identified by position and term. At the completion of the initial terms, all members will be on a four-year rotation. Board positions and initial length of term follows:
Position 1- Teacher-     2011 –    Linda Alexander
Position 2- Teacher-     2013 –    Rocky Van Wormer
Position 3- Classified-    2013-     John Davidson
Position 4- Community member- 2011- Lois Holland
Position 5- Community Member- 2013-Daren Cone
Position 6- Community member- 2013- Bruce Baker
Position 7- Community member- 2011- Fred Young

Termites were discovered in the gymnasium. Bids were received and Bill’s Bug-E was given a contract.
