The Salvation Army and ACCESS Food Share Pantry have partnered to open a second White City food pantry in order to meet the growing hunger needs within this community. The pantry is located at The Salvation Army’s White City thrift store at 2400 Antelope Road and is open Wednesdays from 9 to Noon and Fridays from 1 to 4 p.m. Before utilizing the pantry, the public needs to sign up at ACCESS Inc., at 3630 Aviation Way behind Costco in Medford.
The Salvation Army also operates a food pantry at its Medford thrift store at 922 N. Central Ave.
The White City community had been served by a single pantry at the Rogue Family Center, which is still open Tuesdays from 1 to 4 p.m. Because of the current economic decline, that pantry has been overwhelmed with an increase in clients who have experienced greater waiting times. In the Fiscal Year 2009, ACCESS Food Share provided food for 2,429 White City families and distributed 219,754 pounds of food. The 22 Jackson County ACCESS food pantries have seen a 17% increase in the number of households requesting food assistance.
