Beginning Sept. 1, registration will be open for the 2009/2010 school year at the Boys & Girls Club in White City. Staff will be at the Club between 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. Membership fees are $40 for the year.
As a Club member, youth ages 6-18 have the opportunity to access any of our 5 branches after school and during non-school days. Our hours in White City are from right after school until 6:30p.m. Monday through Friday. The club is located at 3275 Avenue G. Members from White City Elementary and Mountain View Elementary are bused to the Club each day. A free snack will be served upon arrival.
Based on the physical, emotional, cultural, and social needs and interest of boys and girls, and recognizing developmental principles, the Club offers diversified program activities in five areas:
Character & Leadership Development… Empowers young people to support and influence their community, sustain meaningful relationships, develop a positive self-image, participate in the democratic process and respect their own and others’ cultural identities.
Education & Career Development… Enables young people to become proficient in basic educational disciplines, apply learning to everyday situations and embrace technology to optimize employability.
Health and Life Skills… Develops young people’s capacity to engage in positive behaviors that nurture their own well-being, set personal goals, and develop the skills to live successfully as self-sufficient, contributing adults.
The Arts… Enables young people to develop their creativity and cultural awareness through knowledge and appreciation of visual and tactile arts and crafts, performing arts, and creative writing.
Sports, Fitness & Recreation… Develops fitness, positive use of leisure time, skills for stress management, appreciation for the environment, and social and interpersonal skills.
