Dolores “Dee” Marie Larsen, 73, of Shady Cove, died Aug. 11, 2009 at her home after a valiant fight against cancer.
She was born to the late John and Aurora Silveira in San Jose, Calif., on Nov. 16, 1935. She married James D. Larsen in 1966 in San Jose. They relocated to Shady Cove in 1977.
She worked many years in Santa Clara County. Her love of reading lead to her first job there as a librarian. After retirement, she became involved researching her family genealogy and exploring her Portuguese heritage. She was a dog enthusiast and had many “doggie” companions over the years that were close to her heart.
She is survived by her husband, James D. Larsen, of Shady Cove; and her daughter and son-in-law Kimberly and Paul Anuszkiewicz, of Milton, Ga.
Lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to Canine Companions for Independence, P.O. Box 446, Santa Rosa, CA 95402-044. The group provides highly trained assistance dogs for children and adults with disabilities, free of charge.
