Edgar Pleasant, 87, of Sams Valley, died July 24, 2009 in Central Point.
Mr. Pleasant was born Apr. 4, 1922 in Piggott, Ark., to Sheely and Rosa Pleasant. He resided in Sams Valley from 1946-2009. On Jan. 16, 1946, in Olympia, Was. He married Ruby Marie (Schulz). She preceded him in death in Dec. 1990.
Mr. Pleasant worked as a logger and farmer. In his free time he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He served in the U.S. Army 96th Infantry Division during WWII.
He is survived by his sons, Timothy Pleasant, of San Jose, Calif., and Kevin Pleasant, of Sams Valley; a daughter, Cynthia Andrews, of Beaver Creek, Ore; sisters, Peggy Batson and Betty Caery, both of Foreman, Ark; a brother, Bill Pleasant, of Springdale, Ark; six grandchildren and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby; brother, Ezra Pleasant and sister, Nadine Scalley.
The service for Mr. Pleasant was held July 30 at Conger-Morris Central Point Chapel. Rev. Bunny Oliver of Beaver Creek United Church of Christ officiated. Memorial contributions may be made to ACCESS.
