There are several events going on in the Upper Rogue on Saturday, Aug. 22. Among them is the Spam® Festival in Shady Cove. It begins at 10 a.m. and continues with various events until 7 p.m., sponsored by the Shady Cove Business Association.
This year several activities should be especially interesting for the youth. A 2009 NASCAR No. 38 with driver Jason Leffler will be in town. And at 10 a.m. there will be a pet parade. It promises to be a hot day in town, so put some booties and a costume on your favorite bow-wow and join the fun. The parade runs from Premier West Bank to Subway. There is a $5 donation per pet and individual or $10 per group of three or more. Awards will follow at 11 a.m. for the Best Theme, which is Hats Off. Other awards will be for the best costumed person, best costumed pet, best costumed group and best float. For information call 821-4700.
Other events will include a street dance, Spam® cook-off, beer garden, vendors, kid’s carnival, dunk tank, face painting and a big dragon jump house.
