Patricia Ruth (Plass) Cheyne, 81, of Prospect, died at her home August 21, 2009 with her family surrounding her.
Patricia (Pat) was born in Portland, Oregon September 24, 1927 to LeRoy A. and Margurete R. Plass where they later moved to Klamath Falls, in 1935. Pat graduated from Klamath Union High School in 1946 and shortly after married Dale C. Cheyne on September 15, 1946. The newlyweds farmed the original Cheyne homestead in the Henley District of Klamath Falls until 1955 when they moved to Orange, Calif. Pat and Dale formed a fireplace product manufacturing business in the early 70s, then sold in 1988. In late 2005, the retired couple decided to move back to Oregon and settled in Prospect, a place where they loved to camp and fish in their motorhome every summer prior to moving.
Pat is survived by her husband Dale C. Cheyne of Prospect, Daughter Linda Langford of Eagle Point, sons Jerry Cheyne of Oceanside, Calif., Tracy Cheyne and wife Angela of Murrieta, Calif., and Rob Cheyne and wife Diana of Prospect. Pat was a grandmother of 11 and has 17 great grandchildren.
A memorial is planned to celebrate Pat’s life with friends and family at their home in Prospect at 2:00 p.m. on Sept. 12, 2009. Her body is to be interned at Eagle Point National Cemetery in a private ceremony. The family has asked that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
