Robert Griffen Betts 88, of Prineville, Oregon passed away at his home from complications in his struggle with cancer, August 26, 2009. At his request no service will be held.
He was born August 10, 1921 in Greeley, Colorado to Robert G. and Viva B.
(Rathburn) Betts. He attended school in Greeley, Colorado. He then entered the U.S.
Army and was wounded in France. After World War II, he married, had four children and entered the then emerging data processing field. He was considered a forerunner in that field, developing Point of Sale Technology which is still used today. He lived in California, Hawaii and then retired to Shady Cove, Oregon and finished his life in Prineville.
His hobbies included: Golfing, horse races, boxing, wood crafts, gardening, traveling and loved spending time with his family.
Mr. Betts is survived by his sons Dennis (Suzanne) Betts of Gig Harbor, Wa; Robert (Terry) Betts of Redmond, Wa; Steven Betts of Camas, Wa; daughter Dianne Betts of Saugus, Ca; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one sister and one brother.
