World Champ Speed Climb at Timber Carnival

World Champion Speed Climber Brian Bartow of Lake Oswego will be at the Prospect Timber Carnival on Aug. 15.  Bartow, formally of Grants Pass, is the four time ESPN Great Outdoor Games gold medalist, seven time 90′ world champion and two time Stihl Timbersports Series Champion. And he just won his 8th World Championship at Hayward, Wisc.

Bartow has traveled all over the world performing in Timber Carnivals and Logging competitions for 14 years.  Bartow first performed at the Prospect Timber Carnival at the age of 6.  He learned to climb from his father, Steve Bartow.  (Steve is another crowd favorite, performing his Arnold the Clown act atop the 75′ tall log for over 30 years.)  Brian started competing professionally at age 16, and has been able to help finance his college tuition thru the years with winnings from his speed climb wins.

At 30 years old, Bartow trains by weight training five times a week, and getting two hours of physical activity in a day, which may include running, cycling, weights or hill sprints.  He currently works coaching track, and enjoys surfing, snowboarding, biking, rock climbing, soccer and tennis in his spare time.

The Prospect Jamboree and Timber Carnival is Aug. 15 at Lions Park in Prospect.  The Timber Carnival starts at 12:00 noon.  Admission to the Timber Carnival is $3.00 for adults and $1.00 for kids.  For more information, go to
