EP volleyball defeats No. Valley

The Eagle Point Eagle’s volleyball team hosted two home matches this week against the Henley Hornets and the North Valley Knight. After a short weekend that had the Eagles playing in the Roseburg tournament, the Eagles played host to Henley High School Tuesday night. Henley came out strong with Eagle Point losing the first two sets, 13-25 and 10-25. In the third set, the Eagles come together and put pressure on Henley, but still lost in the end, 18-25. The Eagles were lead in the match by senior Kristen Wyatt who registered five kills. The Eagle Point JV team went down zero sets to two and the freshman team lost zero sets to zero as well.

On Thursday night the Eagles hosted North Valley High School. The Eagles come out strong, winning the first set 25-22. The Eagles kept up the pressure on the Knights with the support of a very lively and supportive home crowd. Eagle Point won the second set 25-22 and put away the match in the third set 25-18. The Eagles were lead by senior Kristen Wyatt’s 16 kills / 12 digs, sophomores Christine McCready and Krystyn Cline who both recorded seven kills and Leslie Nielson who had 16 digs. The JV Eagles team swept the Knights, two sets to zero and the freshman team lost one set to two.

The Eagles will be on the road for the next two weeks, playing in the South Eugene Tournament over the weekend, in the Rogue Valley Classic the following weekend and at Phoenix High School on Monday, Sept. 28. The Eagles will host reining conference champs, Ashland High School, on Thursday, Oct. 1. varsity will begin at 7 p.m., with both JV and freshman games kicking off at 5:45 p.m. Come out and support the Eagles as the continue their march to a third playoff season.
