Results of three Pop Warner games

Upper Rogue Pop Warner visited Ashland on Sept. 19 and came out on top in two of the three divisions.  The Mighty Mite Blue team ran away with a victory 44-18 while the Junior Pee Wee team lost 19-6. The Pee Wee team dominated from the start with a convincing 32-6 win.T
he day started in great fashion when our Mighty Mite (6-8 years old) team came out and proved that running the ball and controlling the clock is what it’s about in our youngest division. They started out slow as they went on defense and gave up an opening drive touchdown, but their defense stiffened the rest of the game as they gave up only two more scores.

The offense was lead by running back Noah Page and Jesse Cayo who scored all 7 touchdowns, 4 and 3 respectively.  Their efforts on the ground helped ground out the clock for most of the game before the Ashland scored their last touchdown late with the game already decided. The defensive effort was a complete team effort as they were stingy all day.

The next game wasn’t as pretty as our Junior Pee Wee team didn’t play their best game and lost to Ashland 19-6.  The kids came out flat and never recovered.  Coldin Shopp had the lone score of the game with a long pass from Nathaniel Page to Beau Pomeroy late in the game.

The Upper Rogue Pee Wee White Eagles defeated Ashland 32-6 on Saturday.  Chase Wager, (pictured below) led the Eagles with 3 TD’s (2 rushing, 1 interception return) and also added scores by Tate Cowden and Tyren Wolfe. Tristen Holmes, Ryan Lorenz and Jason Higgison led the defensive attack for the Eagles who have only allowed 6 points in the first 2 games. The Eagles (2-0) next host Central Point on Oct 4 at 2 p.m. at Eagle Point High School.
