Virginia MaeCohoon, 77, died Sept. 2, 2009 at her home in Central Point. She had been a long-time resident and activity community member in White City.
She was born on Jan. 27, 1932, in Pasadena,Calif., to Robert and Harriet Long. She was one of four children.
Mrs. Cohoon attended Westmont College in Santa Barbara, and received her degree to become a Registered Nurse. She became the Director of Nurses at Goleta Valley Hospital in Goleta, Calif. Of her 41 years as a nurse, 25 of those years were spent at Rogue Valley Meeical Center where she was much loved by patients and staff. Her last years before retirement were spent caring for those with terminal illnesses.
On May 25, 1957, she married her husband of 52 years, Donavon A. Cohoon, who survives. She is survived by daughters, Carleen Camden (Dan); Mindy Sprinkle (Steve) ; Jill Ganger (Fred); sons Mark Cohoon and Damon Cohoon and eight grandchildren. She is survived by a brother, Robert Long; and a sister, Jean Messenheimer.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Norman Long.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, Sept. 12, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 649 Crater lake Ave., Medford where she was an active member and prayer warrior. Memorial contributions may ve made in Virginia’s name to Rogue Valley Hospice, whose nurses she once worked along side, and who cared for her at the of her life.
