Young EPHS volleyball teams have tough week

Tuesday, Sept. 8, the EPHS volleyball team opened its season looking to return to the playoffs for the third straight year. After graduating many members of last year’s playoff team, the Eagles are young team this season, with the roster dominated by sophomores.

Tuesday night’s game was against a non-conference opponent, Grants Pass High School. The Eagles came out slow against Grants Pass, losing 6-25. Eagle Point would make the last two games competitive, leading both matches, but eventually losing, 18-25 and 19-25. The EPHS JV team went down to Grants Pass as well Tuesday night two games to zero and the Freshman team lost two games to zero as well.

On Thursday night, the Eagles traveled to North Medford High School to face off against the Black Tornadoes. Eagle Point came out strong winning the first set 25-23, but lost steam and went down in the final three sets 13-25, 17-25 and 11-25. The JV team lost to North Medford, two games to zero, with the Freshman team losing two games to one.

The Eagle Point Volleyball team traveled to play in the Roseburg Tournament over the weekend. Eagle Point will be at home both Tuesday, Sept. 15 and Thursday, Sept.17. The Eagles will host Henley High School on Tuesday night and North Valley High School on Thursday night. Varsity games start at 7 p.m., with JV at 5:45 p.m. and Freshman at 4:15 p.m. Come out and support the 2009 campaign.
