On Oct. 21, Eagle Point competed at Oak Knoll in Ashland against 12 other high schools. This course is very hilly and challenged all of these runners.Varsity Girls and JV Girls ran first in a combined 5k race with 76 entrants. Taking first place was Ashland Senior Camelia Mayfield with a time of 20:50. Sophomore Chloe Hanks led the Eagle Point team throughout the race and finished in a time of 23:55 claiming 29th place. “Chloe has been battling illness recently and it has affected her performance at meets, I expect that she will be back in form before the District Championship meet later this month”. Trailing close behind Chloe was Freshman Ashley Johnson who finished in a time of 24:03 in 30th place.
“ Varsity and JV boys competed in a combined race. Taking first place was Henley Senior Jed Tolbert in a time of 16:36. Leading the way for Eagle Point was junior Tyler Van Dyke -17:58 (a PR). Next to finish was senior Joey Logan was 51st with an 18:33. Freshman Kenny Alanis claimed the 65th at 16:05. Finishing 84th was Keifer Pehowic in a time of 20:05 and finishing 110th was Chris Mann in a time of 23:16. Cody Warren did not run. A total of 123 runners finished this race. “
Oct. 31 the team will travel to Klamath Falls to compete in the Southern Sky District Meet held at the Steen’s Sports Complex.
