David Stephen George Pierce, 61, of Prospect, died Oct. 6, 2009.
He was born Nov. 26, 1947 in Klamath Falls to Marvin G. and Helen Pierce. He lived much of his life in Prospect, graduating from Prospect High School in 1966. He worked for the U.S. Forest Service on a trail crew immediately after high school and later became the foreman for the Prospect Ridge Runners pumper fire crew.
He worked most of his life as a timber faller. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by sisters, Leslie Bartee, Ventura, Calif., Jennifer Van Norman, Azalea, Ore. And Emily Sands, Days Creek, Ore., brother, Brad Pierce, Oakridge, Ore.; sons, Steven Pierce, Shady Cove, Robert Pierce, Eagle Point and David Pierce, Medford; a daughter, Mandy Chapman, Grants Pass; six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
At his request, no service was held. His ashes will be spread in the wilderness next summer.
