Myron E. Dover, 89, of Deming, NM went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sept. 26, 2009.
A memorial service was at Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Paul Temple officiating. Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Mimbres Crematory and interment will take place at the Veteran’s National Cemetery in Eagle Point, Ore.
Mr. Dover was born Nov. 3, 1919 in Madison, NE to John and Eva Graesser Dover. He retired from the Veterans Administration after 30 years of service. He had been an avid participant in Senior Olympic Games for 26 years and holds numerous state and national records. His most recent competition was at the New Mexico State Senior Olympic in May of this year. He set records in all of his events including: Discus- 57’9″, High Jump- 2 ft. 5 in., Javeline-43 ft. 10 in. and the Shot Put- 21 ft. 5 in. He was given New Mexico state honors as Spirit Athlete of Luna County.
Luna County had been his residence for the last 2 years and he was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine, of Deming; son, Alan; daughter, Nancy of Phoenix AZ.; daughter, Peggy of Eagle Point, OR; his loving step-children, Patricia, Kirksville, MO., Michael, Mishawaka, IN., Lisa, Glendale, AZ., Brent, Phoenix, AZ., Brian, Redmond, WA; 19 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Myron is also survived by his brother, Larry (Dick) of Eagle Point, OR.
