For the 23rd Dessert Scholarship, Dr. Karin (Boutacoff) Kuhl will be the guest speaker. The 1990 graduate is now a practicing physician in Ashland.
This year’s entertainment will feature a new member of the District 9 faculty, Jeremy Durst, who as band director at EPHS will direct his jazz band to put all in the holiday spirit.
For this occasion, hostesses call Olive Lansburgh 826-4534 or Mary Scheffler 826-9518 and reserve a table for six to eight if they are round and eight to 10 if they are rectangular. Some reserve more than one table. The hostess provides linen or paper tablecloth and napkins, dishes, china or paper, silverware, and a centerpiece. And, the host or hostess provides a dessert. Members of the National Honor Society serve coffee, tea and water. So be sure as a hostess you’ve thought of the items needed not only the dessert, but also for a beverage.
The scholarship committee invests the funds from this event with the Oregon Community Foundation, as part of the D9 Foundation. With interest from the money invested with the OCF, plus one half the money taken in from the dessert last year, 21 scholarships were given to 2009 graduates.
Hostesses will be given envelopes to pass out to their guests before the evening is over. Hostesses will turn in the envelopes at the end of the evening. To reserve a table or for more information, call Olive Lansburgh at 826-4534 or Mary Scheffler at 826-9518.
