Susan B. Sherman

Susan B. Sherman of Medford, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at home surrounded by her family.

She was born Susan B. Arnold on Oct. 5, 1945, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Raymond and Thelma Arnold. The family moved to Page, Ariz., in 1959. Susan married James R. Crawford in 1965. This marriage produced daughter, Merrily and son, William. Susan and James divorced in 1976. She met and wed Johnny B. Meadows in 1979 in Santa Fe, N.M. John adopted her children, Merrily and Bill and along with Wanda, John’s daughter from a previous marriage, the family was complete. John and Susan moved with Merrily and Bill to Medford in 1984. Susan and John divorced in 1991. On May 8, 1993, Susan married the love of her life, Floyd E. “Eddie” Sherman in Medford, Ore.

Susan worked at the Bear Creek Bi-Mart in Medford for 17 years before retiring and made many great friends there. She loved square dancing (where she met Eddie), fishing, bluegrass music, fishing, travel, fishing and her grandchildren. Did we mention fishing? She truly loved her family and was especially proud of all her grandchildren.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents and her older brother, Timothy Arnold. In addition to her husband, Eddie, she is survived by her sister, Loraine Kauffman and her husband, John; her children, Merrily and William Meadows; stepdaughter, Wanda Meadows; Eddie’s three children, Shelly, Kurt and Rebecca; and she was blessed with 17 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Susan was a great mother, stepmother and mother-in-law, a loving wife, a wonderful sister, a true friend and the best grandmother any child could ask for. We all miss her very much and though Heaven is a richer place for having her, her time here with us was far too short. Those wishing to make donations in her memory may be made to Grace Christian School/Cascade Christian High School Scholarship Fund.

A celebration of Susan’s life was held at First Baptist Church on Saturday Nov. 21. Arrangements by Abbey Funeral Home.
