Paul R. Begley, 59, of Eagle Point, died Jan. 11, 2010 in Medford.
He was born in Los Angeles, Calif., to Don and Marjorie Begley. He moved to Watsonville at the age of 16 and attended Watsonville High School, where he excelled in basketball. After graduation he continued to play basketball for Cabrillo College in Aptos,Calif. and attained an associate degree.
He worked in the fields and at the processing plants in Watsonville and made many long time friends. His lifetime occupation began when he was hired by Gary Thompson to manage the Harbor Café in Santa Cruz, Calif. It was Mr. Thompson who taught him the restaurant business. This led to his many years as owner/operator of Beach Street Restaurant in Watsonville. He loved feeding his friends and will be remembered for many a great breakfast. Beach Street was his heart and his loving wife, Kathleen, was his soul.
Mr. Begley was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2005 and continued working until September 2006, when he and Kathy moved to Eagle Point, to retire.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Brian Begley, of Watsonville, Calif.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Jan. 19, at Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church at 4 p.m. with internment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma, Calif.
