Results from Eagle Point wrestling competition

On Tuesday, Jan. 5, the Eagles played host to Medford and defeated them soundly with a score of Eagle Point 58/ South Medford 10.

The Eagles participated in the Oregon Classic last weekend and at press time they were in the 5A quarterfinals having defeated Madras 51-15, Silverton 53-18 and Pendleton 52-24.

Eagle Point 3rd at the prestigious Oregon Wrestling Classic

In the pool with 9 of the top 10 teams in the state, Eagle Point was able to complete the first day of pool competition with a 3-0 record, defeating eighth ranked Madras HS 51-21, Silverton HS 54-18, and ninth ranked Pendleton HS 52-21. 

The second day of competition began with a face-off with sixth ranked Thurston HS in the quarterfinals.  The Eagles toppled Thurston with a score of 55-18 to move on to the semifinals where they took on three time defending state champs, Hermiston.  The Eagles lost several tight matches and the bulldogs were able to roll to a 49-9 victory. 

Eagle Point came back and showed their resolve by defeating 3rd ranked Hillsboro HS in the third and fourth place match with a score of 39-19.

The Eagles are currently 16-3 in dual meets on the year.

Eagle Point takes on cross-town rival Crater on Thursday, January 14th at 5:45 PM (JV) and 7:00 PM (V).
