Dan Johnson, principal at WMMC, to retire

District 9 is once again losing a seasoned staff member. Dan Johnson, who has 36 years in the district, will officially end his career with the district Mar. 31, but will remain through the end of school in June. The district will no longer pay PERS for Johnson after Mar. 31.

Johnson is the principal at White Mountain Middle School. He was moved from that position at Eagle Point Middle School at the beginning of the 2009-10 school year.

Johnson began his career 36 years ago at White City Elementary. Over the years he has held various positions at Elk Trail, White City Intermediate, Shady Cove, EPHS, at the administration office and at the Eagle Point and White Mountain Middle School.

At this time Johnson said he is looking at opportunities that would keep him involved with children but had no specific plans. “I can assure you I will not be sitting around nor will you find me on the golf course.” Johnson’s wife, Terri, is a kindergarten teacher in the district. Their two children, Tyler and Emily are EPHS graduates. Tyler is a college graduate and Emily is a senior at Eastern Oregon University.
