Eagles have trouble putting together a full game

The Eagles ventured to Central Point on Friday Jan. 29 to take on the Crater Comets. The Eagles struggled for three quarters trailing 40-27 to start the 4th quarter. The Eagles finally found their stride as their pressure defense created turnovers and transition led to some better looks at the basket.

The Eagles trailed by 3 points with 8 seconds remaining and Garrett Snow at the free-throw line. Snow made the first and intentionally missed the 2nd. In a scramble for the rebound it went out of bounds off the Comets, giving the Eagles one last chance. A set play on the in-bounds led to a shot by Matt Smith that was short leaving the Eagles on the short end of 56-54 loss.

The Eagles were led in scoring by Tyrone Holmes and Logan Winter with 17 points each, Matt Smith added 10 points to the Eagle cause.

On Tuesday, Feb. 2, the Eagle Point Eagles traveled to the Klamath Basin to take on the Klamath Union Pelicans in a Southern Sky Conference match up. In a game that was physical and competitive the Eagles came up short by a score of 54-45.

After leading for the majority of the 1st half the Eagles saw their lead slip away and trailed by 1 point at the half. The Eagles kept the game close in spite of a 3rd quarter in which they scored only 4 points. The Eagles found some offense in the 4th quarter, but were never able to overcome the Pelicans lead. Logan Winter led the Eagles with 22 points and Tyrone Holmes chipped in with 15. Logan Winter led the battle of the boards with 11 rebounds, and Matt Smith added 9 rebounds and 4 assists to the Eagles total.
