The Southern District of OHSET this year had added two new additional teams for a total of 15 teams. Eagle Point will be in the small team category this year. Last year’s team was in the same category with seven athletes and claimed both District and State Champion High Point awards for small team. The three district meets will be held at the Jackson County Fairgrounds, Feb. 5-7, March 5-7, and April 16-18. The State competition will be held here in Southern Oregon at the Fairgrounds May 13-16.
Eagle Point High School Equestrian Team: Returning Seniors- 4th year athlete- Megan Stanek-, and 2nd year athlete- Cathryn Gilbreath-. Returning Sophomore: 2nd year athlete- Jordan Stubbs. New to team: Freshman- Katie Curnow.
To offset the costs the Eagle Point Equestrian athletes incur for the seasons, they are raffling off an entry to a Reining Cow Horse Clinic given by NRCHA and AQHA World Champion Shandy Collier. The two day clinic will be held at 4G’s Foundation Quarter Horse Ranch in Eagle Point- July 17 and 18. The value of this package for horse and rider entry is $400. Tickets are for sale now thru June 1 for $5 each. Money raised will help to pay arena rentals and fees at District meets and the State competition which include stall rental and shavings supply.
