At a hearing on Feb. 24, Justin William Keaton, 36, was sentenced to six years in prison following his plea on charges of arson.
Keaton was arrested on Aug 20 by Eagle Point Police Detective Jim Gray and charged with arson in the 1st degree. It is a Class A felony, which could have meant as much as 20 years in prison. The arrest came following the fire at the historic two-story structure owned by Ed Dahack, at the corner of So. Royal and Old Hwy. 62. It burned to the ground on Aug. 18. Other than the day the Eagle Point Junior High burned, this was the biggest fire Eagle Point had experienced. It quickly became a three-alarm blaze.
Gray became involved in the case just minutes after the fire started and worked nearly non-stop until Keaton was arrested at a residence in White City.
