Shady Cove Daffodil Days has events for all

Featured activities at the 10th annual “Daffodil Daze” Festival to be held Saturday, Mar.  27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., will include a Spring Scavenger Hunt contest, sponsored by the Shady Cove Business Association.  Locals and visitors are encouraged to pick up a hunt list and contest rules from any participating business.

A 10 a.m. Children’s Spring Parade led by “Shady Chick” will depart from The Tree of Life Christian Pre-School (Hwy 62 & Rogue River Drive) following a designated walkway paralleling Hwy 62 to PremierWest Bank. 

The day-long “Daffy Hat Walk” is back. Locals and visitors of all ages, including costumed pets, are encouraged to show off their spring decorated hats, neck scarves, and parasols. 

Fine art, crafts, photography, jewelry, coppercraft, ceramics, woodcraft, herbal soaps, candles, birdhouses, flower boxes, funky craftitude, and recycled treasures, including “Sock Monsters”, will be for sale.  The Material Girls 2010 Opportunity Quilt, fresh-cut flowers from Lake Creek, festival foods, gourmet popcorn, and alpacas from Eagle Point, will set up inside and adjacent to the Edgewater Inn Conference Room (next to the Trolley Station). In addition, a marketplace of artisan crafts will also line business store fronts along Hwy 62.

Walk & shop Shady Cove businesses.  Restaurant specials include Miguel’s Family Restaurant offering a 15% discount off any menu item.  Bel Di’s new owner, Chef Helena Darling, will open at 11 a.m. for a special lunch & dinner featuring local ingredients and wines (reservations recommended),

Festival music includes a “send off” at the Trolley Station by “The Jammers” and Richard Gyuro, “Accordionist Uncommon”.

The trolley runs only on Saturday.  Trolley Station is located at Edgewater Inn.  First boarding at 9:45 a.m. departs for Daffodil Hill at 10:00 a.m.; continuous departures on the hour and half-hour with last tour at 3:00 pm.  A $2 donation for adults (kids, 10 and under, ride Free with an adult).  Net proceeds benefit the Shady Cove Boys & Girls “Cool Club”.  Seating is limited, advance reservations are recommended.  Call: 541-878-3626. “Getting there is half the fun!”

For those taking a “self-guided drive” up Daffodil Hill” follow the signs to The Big Oak Tree “turn around”. (Directions: Hwy 62 to Rogue River Drive, drive short distance to Sawyer Road, right turn to “Daffodil Hill).  Blooms continue, weather permitting, through end of April.
