Barbara Jane (McCaw) Witt, 77, of Eagle Point, Oregon, passed away at Rogue Valley Medical Center on Saturday, April 10, 2010.
She began life July 20, 1932, in Denver, Colorado, as the only child of William and Margaret McCaw. She moved west to complete nursing school in Southern California, and soon thereafter met and married her loving husband of 52 years, Don Witt. Barbara’s four children, Dale, Sandy, Sharon and Linda, were born in Canoga Park, California. The family later moved to Saugus, California.
Barbara kept her focus on faith, family and friends. She spent many happy hours teaching the kids to water ski, designing crafts for Vacation Bible School, and delivering snacks to swim or track meets. As the kids grew, she added shifts nursing, and later supported Don in the family business. As their four children moved on to careers of their own, Barbara and Don migrated to enjoy the beauty of Prospect, Oregon, and more recently of Eagle Point, Oregon. She continued to stay active in the community, enjoying time with her church and her neighbors, as well as with Oregon Home Extension, Northwest Steam Society, and Old Timers Car Club families.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Don Witt, of Eagle Point, OR; son and daughter-in-law Dale and Barb Witt, grandchildren David and Nicole and great-grandchildren Adriana and Levi of Vancouver, WA; daughter and son-in-law Sandy and Art Prast of San Diego, CA; daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Marc Miravalle and granddaughters Danielle and Julia of Novato, CA; and daughter Linda Witt of Simi Valley, CA.
A memorial service is planned for May 1, 2010, 11 a.m., at St. John Lutheran Church in Eagle Point, Oregon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Barbara’s name to: Saint John Lutheran School, P.O. Box 1049, Eagle Point, Oregon 97524.
Barbara had a unique and selfless way of living life. We will miss her touch and her laughter.
