EPHS Track and field off to a good start

The temperatures were cool, but the rain and snow held off and the EPHS Track and Field team opened their season Saturday April 3rd at the Medford Rotary Relays.  Thirteen teams from southern Oregon participated in the special meet, where almost all events were relays.  Led by Corrie Culpeper the girls took 1st in the Shot Put Relay with Corrie putting a conference leading 35’3”. 

Three freshmen combined to place second in the Long Jump Relay.(Vanessa Pena, Hannah Morris and Jazmin Arnspiger)  Senior Jenise Lewis led the girls to a 3rd place finish in the shuttle hurdles.  The girls also took third in the High Jump Relay.(Casie Johnson, Hannah Morris, Jessica Ferro).  Lindsay Marsh ran strong legs on three relays(including a good early season 4×400) as well as having a personal best in the triple jump.

The boys won the High Jump Relay(Josh Wilson, Zach Reed, Loren Nesburg)  Wilson’s 6’ high jump currently leads the conference.  The boy’s Triple Jump Relay also placed 1st.(Austin Marlia, Trent Kaiser, Andrew Blanchard).  The boy’s Javelin Relay placed second.(Garrett Snow, Austin Marlia, Loren Nesberg)  Snow’s throw of 171’7” is a personal best and currently leads the conference.  Tyler Van Dyke placed 3rd in the mile run.  Jess Huntley’s 11’ pole vault and Josh Wilson’s 42.42 in the 300H are both conference leading marks.

The Eagles return to action with a home dual meet with Crater on Tuesday April 13th.
