Viola Lorane (Bray) Zimmerman, 88, of Medford died at the Rogue Valley Medical Center on Apr. 5, 2010.
She was born on Mar. 6, 1922, in Tacoma, Wash., to Forrest and Morna Calista (Parker) Bray. At the age of 12 at a Grange meeting, she spotted a young man and declared she would marry him. And on Nov. 24, 1939, she and Robert R. Zimmerman were married in Longview, Wash. He preceded her in death, in 2006.
Ms. Zimmerman sang in various choirs, was a member of Eastern Star and Home Extension, made quilts for Project Linus, made neck coolers for the troops and received a certificate from the Command Sgt. Major in Iraq for her effort. She enjoyed hunting mushrooms, watching birds and spending time with family. Ms. Zimmerman served on the board of directors of Cascade Pool, where she was a dear friend.
She is survived by a daughter, Morna Bastian of Chiloquin; sons, Mark (Carolyn) of Brookings and Brian (Katherine) of Boise, Idaho; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a young son, Steven; and her sister, June Hopkins.
