Mark your calendar for the 10th annual City of Shady Cove SPAM® Festival. Throughout the years, festivals have always been a great way of bringing people together…and also play an important part of building a community. The City of Shady Cove SPAM® Festival is sponsored by the SPAM® Festival Committee and the Upper Rogue Regional Tourism Alliance in cooperation with the City of Shady Cove.
The history of SPAM® dates back to 1937, and was a cultural icon in the 40s. During World War II, sales of Spam® soared. In part because it requires no refrigeration, Spam® was perfect for the military and became a standard K-ration for U.S. soldiers.
Today, you can visit the SPAM® Museum at 1937 SPAM Boulevard, Austin, Minnesota and also go the official Website at: www.spam.com. Shady Cove has been known for one-day of celebrating this tradition, along with many other cities across the USA.
Keep the tradition alive. Visit the “10th Annual City of Shady Cove SPAM® Festival” on July 10, from 10:10 a.m.-4 p.m. Enjoy SPAM® burgers, hot dogs, hamburgers, beer garden, live music, vendor booths, Kids Carnival, and many other attractions including the Jackson County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse.
All new this year is the “Stationary Parade & Costume Contest.” This is a great way to show off your creativity and win some moola at the same time. All entry fees will be split among the winners. The entry fee is only $25.
Vendor’s spaces are just $30 for a 10×10 or 10×20 space for $55. Electrical is $10 extra. Vendor participants must complete an entry form and return it along with their check prior to June 10. Checks are to be made out to SPAM Festival, P.O. Box 620, Shady Cove, OR 97539. If you are in the area vendor forms will be available at Books N More. All Entry Forms can be downloaded by going to www.shadycoveinfo.com
