On April 26 at approximately 2:40pm, the Medford Police Department responded to the SOFCU Community Credit Union at 1380 Biddle Road for a reported armed robbery.
A lone male subject entered the bank and presented a demand note to the teller. The note stated that the suspect had a gun, but no weapon was displayed. While the teller was attempting to retrieve cash from her drawer, the suspect became nervous and fled the bank without obtaining any money. The suspect fled the area on foot.
Medford Police Department Detectives were able to develop information and a lead on the suspect. The suspect was identified as:
Anson, Richard Lane DOB 8/19/1970
A temporary arrest warrant was issued on Anson. Detectives were able to determine that Anson was in the Eugene, Oregon area, and information was passed to the local Law Enforcement agencies. On the evening of April 27th, an alert Springfield PD officer observed the suspect’s vehicle pull into a local drinking establishment and the suspect entered the building. As a perimeter was being set around the building, the suspect fled out the back door but was taken into custody.
