Bed race, live music and fun at Prospect Mill Creek Festival, May 29

Are you in need of a new mattress set?  The connect between a festival in Prospect and a new mattress set may seem a bit far out, but someone could actually win it at the Mill Creek Festival, May 29.

Pack up that old mattress, be sure it is on wheels so it can be pushed or pulled, have a three or four person team with one person on the mattress. The rider and mattress must have a theme. There is a $5 entry fee, but the first place winner will receive a new mattress set. For more information call Sarah at 541-531-8037 or Jamie at 541-560-4055.

Proceeds from the first Mill Creek Festival will be used to help veterans in the Prospect area (97536 zip code.) The event is presented by the Prospect Café & Trophy Room and the Prospect Historical Hotel.

U.S. Cellular will give free phone calls for Prospect area veterans.

Events begin with a 10-mile run beginning at 7:30 a.m. There will be a parade at 10:30. Organizers say while there will be a number of booths, each will be exclusive. This means you won’t find more than one booth on a particular item, i.e. one for stained glass or one selling t-shirt, and so forth.

There will be live music. Cleopatra and the Night Boys will perform from 1-3, followed by KGB & The Fatty Twister and from 9-11 p.m. The Bathtub Gin Serenaders will entertain.
A number of activities for children are planned including pony rides and a puppet show.

There will be a horseshoe tournament with 1st place prize  a handmade teak bench from 3 Sisters Teak. Entry is $10 per two person team.

A special flag retirement ceremony is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Again, for information call 541-531-8037 or 541-560-4055.
