Reminiscent of the Molly Hatchet song, “Flirtin’ With Disaster,” Tuesday’s track meet was fortunate in missing the worst of the day’s weather.
The meet was scored as a double dual between the Eagles, Klamath Union, and Cascade Christian. The Eagle boys swept- EP 76 KU 69; EP 87 CC 56. Those performances improved the boy’s dual meet record to 3-1. The girls swept as well- EP 91.5 KU 48.5, EP 111 CC 30. The EP girls remain undefeated in duals with a 4-0 record.
The EP girls won 7 of 10 events contested on the track. Freshman Jazmin Arnspiger was a triple winner in the 4x100R, 100M, and 200M. The 4x100R(Marsh, Arnspiger, Morris, Boykin) ran a season best 52.2. The EP girls again dominated the throws winning them all and taking 6 of a possible 9 places in those events. Senior Kris Wyatt improved to 99’9” in the javelin, while placing second to her conference leading teammate Kim Snow. Freshman Hannah Morris completed an EP sweep with a third place finish. Lindsay Marsh won the TJ with a PR jump of 32’4”.
Despite a lack of success in the sprints the EP boys showed good overall depth. Josh Wilson was a double winner (300H and HJ). The boys had three shot putters over 40’.(Tyrone Holmes, Daniel Miller, Steven Josephson). Tyler Van Dyke returned from an injury to place second in the 1500M, followed by freshman Sergio Bencomo in 3rd. Bencomo came later in the meet to win the 3000M. Austin Marlia continued his stellar Triple Jumping with a win at 42’1”.
The Eagle’s Varsity Boys and Girls traveled May 1st to the Sterling Bank Invitational held at OIT.
