Eagle Tracksters Sweep at Ashland

The Eagle Point Track Team finished off a very successful dual meet season with a trip to Ashland HS on Tuesday May 11.  The girls defeated the Ashland 74-60 to finish with an unblemished mark of 5-0 in duals.  The boys put together their strongest effort of the season besting Ashland 103-42.  The boys finished with a dual record of 4-1.

Freshman Casie Johnson was a double winner in both hurdle races.   Lindsay Marsh moved up from her normal 400M distance to post an outstanding time of 2:30.24 in the 800M.  Cassie Boykin continued her fine sprinting both anchoring the winning 4x100R, winning the 100 and placing second in the 200M.  Freshman Hannah Morris again displayed great diversity in winning the long jump, placing 2nd in the javelin, 3rd in the 100M and running on the winning 4×100 relay team.

The throwers again demonstrated dominance by sweeping the throws.  Corie Culpepper (shot put), Hannah Mason(discus) and Kim Snow (javelin) all won the specialties as has been the case in all dual meets this season.

The boys were led by double event winning seniors Josh Wilson(HJ and 300H) and Trent Kaiser(100M and LJ).  As one can imagine, many Eagles stepped up in scoring a season high 103 points!  Freshman Sergio Bencomo continued a fine spring of distance running by claiming the 1500M with a PR 4:27.40.  Pole vaulters Julian Ramirez and Jess Huntley got back on track clearing 11” and tying for first.

First year hurdler Aaron Foster continued his improvement by placing second in both hurdle race with a PR 44.46 in the 300H.  Senior Dan Miller stepped up with a winning shot put effort.  Sophomore Loren Nesberg broke through with a big PR to win the discus.
