Charles “Burt” Broomfield, 94, of Eagle Point, died June 19, 2010, at Eagle Cove Assisted Living in Eagle Point.
He was born Dec. 12, 1915, in Medford, to Florus and Mary Blanche Broomfield. His parents homesteaded 40 acres in Prospect, where they built a log cabin and taught school.
During his life, Mr. Broomfield worked hauling lumber and logs and retired from Kimmel Trucking in 1982. He was a 43 year member of the Elks Lodge and an 18 year member with the Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his son, Robert (Donna) of Eagle Point, three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Burton Ronald Broomfield in 1943, a grandson in 1957, a brother, Florus in 1996 and a sister, Ella in 1992.
A celebration of life was held June 28.
