Jackson County has new fair director

Jackson County Fair Board President Bob Smith announced today that the Board has chosen Dave Koellermeier as the new Jackson County Fairgrounds & Expo Park Director. Koellermeier begins his position June 1. He replaces Chris Borovansky who left April 1 for a similar position with the Stanislaus County Fair in California.

During the last four years Koellermeier has served as the Oregon State Fair Operations Manager and the State Fair’s Manager of Strategic Planning before returning to the consulting business. Prior to his assignments with the state fair, his employment career has included positions in the agriculture industry with Ralston Purina and his own consulting company.  He was also CEO for ten years with Micro Power Electronics in the Portland area.

Koellermeier holds a bachelor’s degree in Ag economics from Oregon State University and a M.B.A. degree from Washington University in St. Louis.

“Dave has an understanding of both the marketing and financial components of what makes both a fair and interim events successful. He understands the fiscal solvency required to allow long term success for the many community stakeholders at Jackson County Expo. He understands the agricultural underpinnings of a county fair, but also has the vision to nurture both the commercial and entertainment aspects of a fairgrounds that increasingly relies upon a more urban clientele,” said Smith.

Koellermeier, who is from Wilsonville, said, “The Jackson County Fair, and particularly its youth livestock auction, has an excellent reputation in the state. I look forward to working with existing fairground’s partners, working to expand those relationships, and growing the utilization of the Expo’s venues.”
