Roy E. Myers, 87, of Trail, died at home on June 6, 2010.
He was born to George and Myrtle Myers on July 14, 1922, at Wallowa, Ore. After serving in the US Navy as a machinist, he came home to Shady Cove to meet the love of his life, June E. Schnurr. They were married Oct. 11, 1947 and spent 62 happy years together.
He cowboy’d and caught wild horses. He enjoyed spending lots of time hunting and fishing. He also knew a good trade for something when he saw it.
Mr. Myers owned his own logging truck and worked his early years for Oscar Hanson, then continued on with GMW Logging, where he retired with his last load in 1986. He loved logging and always had a story to tell.
Right up to his last days, his grandkids always brought a smile to his face and they look forward to seeing him again one day.
He is survived by his wife and three children; Roy E. (Kathy )Myers, Jr., LaVonne (Vale) Womelsdorf and George (Debbie) Myers; 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and a sister, Hazel. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and three brothers.
A celebration of life will be held June 25 at Rogue Elk Equine Ranch, Elk Creek Road at 2 p.m. A potluck will immediately follow the service.
