William M. Major, Jr., 73, of Trail, died July 11, 2010, at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Major was born on Oct. 14, 1936 in Merced, Calif., to Loretta and William Major.
He moved to Oregon in 1977 and went to work for United Telephone, which became Sprint. He retired in 2002.
He and his wife, Geordeen, were married Nov. 15, 1986.
Mr. Major enjoyed working outdoors, and especially enjoyed family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Kelly Douglas, Redding, Calif., son, Mike Major, Folsom, Calif., step-sons Russell Villanueva, Auburn, Calif., Jim Ricos, Pacifica, Calif., Chip Emigh, Eagle Point and Phillip Emigh, Chicago, Ill, and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and his son, Lonnie.
A gathering of friends and family will held Aug. 7, from 2-5 p.m. at his home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Special Olympics in Mr. Major’s name.
