Augustine E. Lopez, of Shady Cove, died July 26, 2010 at Rogue Valley Medical Center after battling cirrhosis of the liver.
He was born in Torrance, Calif., on Oct. 20, 1946, to Antonio Lopez and Angelita Fernandez.
Mr. Lopez was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served for seven years in the U.S. Army. While serving, he earned the Bronze Star medal and received the Army Commendation medal. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed playing pool. He spent the last 17 years living in Shady Cove.
Survivors include his wife, Esther; three daughters, Michelle, Andrea and Monica; a son, Augustine, with his first wife Angela Jensen; stepdaughters, Lori Ann and Teresa; stepson, Robert, 15 sisters, 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
A viewing was held July 29 with the funeral service July 30 at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Shady Cove. Burial was at the Eagle Point National Cemetery. Arrangements by Hillcrest Memorial Parks & Mortuary.
