The concern and caring in the Upper Rogue is phenomenal. Whenever someone needs help, community members step forth to offer assistance. Recently a bank account was set up at PremierWest to contribute towards medical bills for Steve Hauck, Executive Director of the Upper Rogue Community Center. That helped— but Hauck could use more assistance and a fundraiser for him is in the works.
A few years ago, Hauck was diagnosed with cancer and underwent treatment. He has had some residual problems. Hauck has dialysis three times a week and also needs expensive medication.
Hauck has worked diligently for the community for about eight years and has made a huge impact. He implemented many programs at URCC and furthered existing ones. Hauck was also instrumental in getting the Boys & Girls Club open in Shady Cove. He did it all with a generous spirit towards the people of the Upper Rogue. Anyone who knows Hauck, knows what a hard worker and caring person he is. And everyone admires him for his positive, can-do attitude.
Hauck has done a lot for the Upper Rogue and now it is time to give back by attending a fundraiser for him. A lasagna dinner is scheduled for September 11 at the community center at 6 p.m. The dinner including salad, bread and dessert is $5. Vegetarian lasagna will also be available. Wine may be purchased for an additional price. All proceeds go to the Steve Hauck Medical Fund.
Trail artist, Debby Elder, has donated two historic-themed watercolor prints to be raffled off at $5 per ticket with a maximum of 100 to be sold.
Those unable to attend may make a donation to the Steve Hauck Medical Fund at any PremierWest Bank. For more information call URCC at 541-878-2702. The community center is located behind city hall at 22451 Highway 62.
