On Sunday, Oct. 17 at Pioneer Hall in Lake Creek, Jake Feighner was honored by approximately 100 for achieving the Rank of Eagle Scout.
Feighner had to do a special project along with earning a minimum of 21 merit badges to complete this rank. The project he choose to do was to design, build and place a bench near the memorial garden in Creekside Community Park in Eagle Point. He enlisted the help of many of his fellow scouts and scouters to carry out this project. The purpose of doing a project is to practice and show leadership skills.
Feighner is a senior Eagle Point High School and takes classes at RCC. He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 48. During his scouting years Feighner has attended many summer camps across the northwest. He has hiked 50 miles in one trek spread over 5 days carrying everything he would need on his back.
Feighner has been the Senior Patrol Leader for Troop 48 the past year and attended the 100th Anniversary Scout Jamboree in Fort AP Hill, Virginia this past summer. He has worked as an assistant cook at Cub Scout Camp McLoughlin on Lake of the Woods for the past several camp seasons. He also worked at Porters Restaurant in Medford as a prep cook. He is currently employed by Pepsi Cola.
Jake is the son of Allan Feighner of Eagle Point.
