She was born in Disputana, Va., to John and Marie Bulan. They were born in Czechoslovakia and came to American in 1907 and 1909 for a better life. Agnes was one of 13 children. She grew up in Virginia and New York and moved to Los Angeles with two sisters at the age of 19. Always the adventurer, they left their East Coast family crossing the country by bus in search of the Pacific Ocean.
Agnes met her husband, Lester, married, and raised four children. She completed her high school diploma at the age of 47. She worked as a teacher’s aide through her career and into retirement.
She is survived by children; Judy Zippi and John Bright, both of Sams Valley and Gary Bright, of Lake Forest, Calif., 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Leslie Bright.
A celebration of life was held Tuesday, Oct. 26, at Community of Christ Church, White City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Billy Graham Christian Broadcast Network or Medford Gospel Mission.
