“This is home and we are anxious to get started on this project,” said Israel Figueroa, of EZ Landscape & Construction, at the official groundbreaking of Centennial Plaza on Nov. 12. The plaza is located at the corner of Main and Royal, in Eagle Point. For a good number of years the corner has been an eyesore. It was home to a gas station for many years. When the station was gone, the property was purchased but the purchaser decided not to go ahead with his original plans and put the property on the market. The city council authorized the city to purchase the corner lot and funds were allocated for what they hope will be the cornerstone for downtown improvement.
The project is to be completed before the end of January in preparation for the dedication and kick-off of a year long Centennial Celebration for Eagle Point.
EZ Landscape & Construction has done several jobs in and around the area including the landscaping at Wal-Mart, several buildings at the VA SORCC, landscaping at the new library in Shady Cove and the community college in Brookings, among others. They have been in business for 10 years and have 19 employees in the field.
