Eagle Point will be celebrating Nov.11 with the dedication of the last plaque in honor of our service men and women. This plaque will be dedicated to those who have, and are, serving in Iraq and Afghanistan wars. The event is on the Royal Ave. side of the Covered Bridge. It begins at 11 a.m. Should it rain, the ceremony will be inside the Covered Bridge.
The guest speaker will be Eagle Point’s new Police Chief Vern Thompson. The Naval Sea Cadets will be the Honor Guard. Master of Ceremonies will be Commander Lee Simmons of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. The Eagle Point High School Band will provide patriotic music.
The Eagle Point Senior Center, 121 Loto St., will be serving a full breakfast from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. for $5. It will be free to veterans.
The plaque that will be placed on the large rock costs $600. In the past a number of donated to help pay the cost. This year donations have been quite slow. If you wish to donate, call Helen Wolgamott, 830-4049.
