Arrests made in White City cock fight

Shortly before 12:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 11, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received an anonymous tip of rooster fighting at a residence in the 12000 block of Meadows Road, White City. A group of Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputies quickly surrounded the property. As deputies approached they saw a group of 20 – 25 Hispanic s circled around the roosters.

As deputies moved toward the group, all of the participants took off running, including two children. Seven individuals were caught. Two were cited and released and five others were lodged in the Jackson County Jail. Seven dead roosters were found as well as fighting paraphernalia.

Ruben Serrano-Virgen, 08-25-67, charged with Participating in Cock Fighting
Antonio Casillas, 11-16-88, charged with Participating in Cock Fighting
Juan Diego Hernandez, 08-03-91, charged with Participating in Cock Fighting
Bertin Parra – 09-05-77, charged with Participating in Cock Fighting
Tomas Hernandez, 06-12-65, charged with Participating in Cock Fighting and Cock Fighting

All charges are Class C Felonies. More arrests are expected to be made as deputies continue to investigate.
