There will be an important meeting for rural homeowners on Jan. 20 at 6:30 p.m. at Fire District 4 , 21200 Hwy. 62, Shady Cove. New rules for firebreaks will be presented. A public hearing will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 1, at 1 p.m. in White City at the county auditorium. Rural homeowners can meet the standards, which include a break from 50 to 100 ft. from structures or pay a portion of the state’s cost if a fire starts on the homeowner’s land and spreads as a result of not meeting the standards.
