Sled dog races at Chemult

Winter-time fun for spectators and participants is Jan. 15 and 16 at the annual Chemult Sled Dog Races.

Events are at Walt Haring Sno-Park, one-quarter mile of Chemult on Highway 97. Races begin at 8:30 a.m. each day.

There will be six sled dog races, two skijoring races (cross-country skier pulled by one or two dogs), plus a just-for-fun peewee race.

Other activities include a snowman building contest, dinner specials at Loree’s Chalet, silent auction and an awards ceremony

Sno-Park permits are required. Oregon, Washington and California Sno-Park permits are all acceptable. Parking is available at Walt Haring Sno-Park’s north lot.

Chemult Sled Dog Races Association is supported by Pacific Sled Dog & Skijoring Association, Chemult Mountain Trail Riders Snowmobile Club, Chemult Rural Fire Protection, Klamath City Search & Rescue, Fremont-Winema National Forests, Chemult Ranger District and volunteers.
