Mountain View Elementary was the school recognized at the Feb 9 school board meeting. Much to his surprise, Plant Engineer Dale Newton was the honored employee. Newton was recognized not only for his patience with Principal Lisa Yamashita as he explains just some of the workings of the school building to her, but because he is a mentor.
School seemed to be a bit intimidating to Eyon Callaway when he first arrived, a fact Newton rather quickly noticed. Newton started talking with Eyon and now you will find Newton has a helper at the cross walk, when a lock needs attention or perhaps as he once again patiently explains the boiler to the principal.
In accepting the award, Newton said, “I can’t have peace until all the pieces are together. Thank you Eyon for letting me do it.”
Additional honors went to students Noe Martinez and Rose McFarland. Both 5th graders were recognized for their academics, positive attitude and willingness to help.
