The upcoming Exotic Dessert could best be described as an amazing event and one that is still, after all these years, not exactly understood. It should not be confused with any other event anywhere in the area. The date is Saturday Mar. 12 at 7 p.m. in the EPHS Cafeteria.
It works like this: Some of the best bakers in the valley donate desserts. To those scrumptious delights are added items. Technically bidding is on the dessert, but you will also be bidding on the added item, of which the auctioneer will make you fully aware. As an example- bidding on a German Chocolate Cake might include a cord of wood or bidding on a year’s worth of cookies, might include $500 worth of landscaping, and so forth.
It is not only a fun evening, there are some dandy desserts and prizes, not to mention a number of additional items given as numbers of those registered are called.
This evening is a benefit for three EPHS groups as well as the Eagle Point Community Association. The high school groups are Skills USA. Leadership and the High School Boosters. These students (and families) are asked to help by gathering donations, baking and attending the event, along with the EPCA and its supporters.
Some of the items that will be matched with a favorite dessert include: artwork, jewelry, flower baskets, televisions, backhoe service, complete stereo system, copier/fax machine, “rent a kid” (maybe there will be an army of them, time will tell), gift certificates from at least a dozen businesses, among other items.
The EPCA can always use more. And, you can reserve a table in your name or in the name of your business (even if you don’t sit there) for $50. Give Bunny a call at 541-944-2446 or call Sharon Coupe at 541-944-5142.
